Katalyssst

I'm Kat Friar, also known as KATALYSSST, and I'm a versatile creative whose work revolves around music. The "3 S's" represent my roles as a selecta (DJ), shooter (photographer), and scout (A&R).

I've completed the Small Green Shoots "Short Sharp Shot" programme and spent six months scouting for Warner Records' A&R team. I also manage social media and content for Mahalia Presents, and made my creative director debut with the short film All Bets On KATALYSSST.

As a multigenre DJ, I fuse global club and electronic sounds—like jungle, dubstep, baile, dancehall, gqom, and more—into high-energy, nostalgic sets. I debuted at GALA with BORN N BREAD, filled a 400-capacity tent at We Out Here with Jozana Music Group Collective, and launched my own event, The Catalyst.

My photography has been featured on Spotify editorial playlists and I've worked closely with artists like Kali Claire and Amindi on press shots and cover art. With over 100 artist portraits and live photography of acts like Ari Lennox and Giveon, my work reflects a deep love for live music.

In 2024, my work was showcased at Somerset House through the GUAP x Adidas Originals Creators Network.
